Up to 25% of the worlds electrical generation is lost in transmission and use.

Based on 2006 numbers, saving just a quarter of that 25% loss represents more than 500,000 MW per year of newly available electricity from existing generation. For a comparison, the city of Tokyo, with more than 12 million inhabitants, consumes 60,000 MW per year.

And remember, electrical usage is increasing exponentially year by year.
